Windows7 registry repair from "registry repair" programs?
My windows 7 machine is missing some system features. As far as I can tell, there was a program that came installed with my machine when I bought it. I uninstalled it, but I think I unknowingly started the registry fix/optimization feature when trying to disable it. I think it somehow tried to "optimize" my system and removed certain features. Example features: windows aero, some other features I can't recall without looking. Is there a way to restore these features and my registry? Also, I think the program was called Registry Mechanic, but I am not certain.

You can try doing a Repair install. You must boot with the install disc to access the Repair install feature. If a Repair install does not fix the problems, then you will have to wipe the current Win 7 installation and do a clean install of the system. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
